Intro

Did you know that edX offers you the chance to access most of the courses for free without paying a subscription?
Yes, that’s right – you can watch all the videos and access all the content for FREE. This is called auditing the course. It allows you to smash through the course and watch the videos when you want so you can still learn a lot with this method.

Here, we’ll discuss how to audit a course on edX to get the most out of the course without paying a dime.

What Is edX Course Audit? 🤔

edX course audit is a method by which you can access courses on edX for free.

So, you can watch videos of the course for free and access some other materials, thereby accessing valuable education; however, an audit cuts off access to class activities like assignments and quizzes.

That means you can’t earn any credits for taking the course, and you won’t be able to get certifications.

Auditing a course on edX sounds like a fantastic idea because the knowledge gained is invaluable and is accessed for free. To access classwork and get certificates for taking the course, you must pay for it.

Some people may have reached a point in their career where they don’t need a certificate anymore but need knowledge that can be accessed on edX.

Auditing a course on edX may also be a great way of starting your learning on the platform. It is not entirely different from a free trial, which you get for the first seven days after sign-up. That means you can audit a course if you need it just for personal development.

It should, however, be noted that only individual courses can be audited, and not entire disciplines. You cannot find the audit option on the professional certificates, Micromasters, or executive education.

Some courses are also available on the “Full Course No Certificate” plan. You can access courses without getting certificates when you sign up for them. The advantage of this option is that it provides access to certain assessment items.

How to Audit a Course on edX : A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Choose a Course You Like

The first and most obvious step is to select a course that you find helpful or useful or the one that looks interesting to you.

Step 2: Select “Access this Course”

If a course is available in the audit track, on the course introduction page will mention a FREE option. Click the Enroll button to enroll.

After you click Enroll you'll have the option to Upgrade Now or Continue. If you select Continue you can enroll now for free and optionally upgrade later if the upgrade deadline hasn't passed.

If you want to look at the course before purchasing the certificate, choose Audit This Course. The course is the same and you will have plenty of opportunities to purchase the certificate later. Or you can pay and be eligible for a refund during the money-back period.

The exception is some professional courses that are paid-only. Clicking on Enroll Now will allow you to enter your credit card or PayPal details. You can find which courses are free and which are paid-only by looking at the price in the course information panel. Paid-only courses will display a price in US Dollars or your local currency, free will say Free Online Course and will list a price for the optional certificate. Pay-only courses are marked on Class Central information pages with a small green $ sign.

Conclusion

In closing, it's important to remember that dual employment is not a one-size-fits-all solution and it may not be the right choice for everyone. It's important to consider your own personal and professional goals, as well as your physical and mental well-being, before deciding to engage in dual employment.

It's also important to communicate openly and honestly with both employers about your intentions and to ensure that your dual employment does not violate any company policies or legal agreements. Ultimately, the decision to engage in dual employment should be made with care and consideration, and with the goal of achieving a balance that works for you.
